Washington Open also known as Citi Open for sponsorship reasons is one of the most famous tennis tournaments in the USA for both the WTA and ATP tours. This tournament is from the chain of the US Open series. Citi Open was founded in 1969 as an ATP tour but the WTA tour started in 2011. This year, it will be the 10th edition of the Citi Open for the WTA tour. Due to Covid-19, 2020 and 2021 editions were not played.

WTA Citi Open 2022 Winners
In a single championship, Russian star Ludmilla Samsonova defeated Kaia Kanepi of Estonia. In the final, Ludmilla won the title in the final set (4-6, 6-3, 6-3). This is 2nd WTA title for a Russian star in her career.

While in the doubles championship, American star Jessica Pegula, and Newzealand star Erin Routliffe lift the title. The winning pair defeated Anna Kalinskaya of Russia and Caty McNally of the USA in the final set (6-3, 5-7, 12-10). They won their first career title together.

WTA Citi Open 2019 Champions
In the 2019 Citi Open Washington Singles championship, home star Jessica Pegula won the title against Camila Giorgi of Italy. In the final, Jessica smashed Camila in easy 2 sets (6-2, 6-2). Jessica was 2nd USA player who won Washington open after Sloane Stephens in 2015. In doubles, All-American pair Caty McNally and Cori Gauff won the doubles championship and became the first American pair to become 1st Citi Open doubles champion. The winning pair defeated Maria Sanchez of the USA and Fanny Stollar of Hungary by 6-2, 6-2.
