Istanbul Cup, also known as TEB BNP Paribas Tennis Championship, is a WTA 250 tournament held in Istanbul, Turkey. Istanbul Cup was founded in 2005 and its 21st edition started on 18th April & ended on 24th April 2022. It is played on the outdoor clay court surface of the Istanbul Tennis Center. It’s a 32 Singles /16 Doubles event.
Istanbul Cup 2022 Champions
In 2022, Qualifier Anastasia Potapova of Russia won the singles Istanbul Cup against country fellow star Veronika Kudermetova. Potapova won the final with straight sets (6-3, 6-1). Qualifier Potapova wins her maiden WTA title.
On the other side, Marie Bouzkova (CZE) and Sara Sorribes Tormo (ESP) won the doubles championship against Russian pair Natela Dzalamidze and Kamilla Rakhimova. The winning pair wins the final battle with straight sets (6-3, 6-4).
Istanbul Cup 2021 Champions
In 2021, Sorana Cirstea from Romania was the singles champion and the runner-up was Elise Mertens from Belgium. Elise Mertins couldn’t win the singles championship but she won the doubles championship with Russian partner Veronika Kudermetova. Winners played the final against Japanese pair Nao Hibino and Makoto Ninomiya.
