Classified as a WTA 250 tournament, it takes place after the US Open and serves as the culminating women’s event of the China Series. Inaugurated in 2004, this tournament occupies a slot in the WTA schedule.

Guangzhou Open2023 Results
In the singles championship, Unseeded and ranked No.88, Wang Xiyu stormed to her first Hologic WTA Tour title at the Galaxy Holding Group Guangzhou Open without dropping a set. The Chinese 22-year-old became the sixth home champion in the tournament’s history. She swept Poland’s Magda Linette 6-0, 6-2 in the final of the tournament in Canton, China.
In the doubles, Chinese pair Jiang Xinyu and Hanyu Guo faced Japanese pair Eri Hozumi and Makoto Ninomiya in straight sets 6-3, 7-6. The winning pair won their 1st WTA Doubles title together.
