Abierto Akron Zapopan 2022 Final Update – Prize Money – Players List
City of Guadalajara, Mexico hosts 3rd Abierto Akron Zapopan 2022. A WTA 250 hard court event, held on 21 February and ends on 27 February 2022 at Panamerican Tennis Centre Zapopan.

In the singles, USA star Sloane Stephens won the WTA 250 trophy against Czech Republic star Marie Bouzkova. After 4 years of gap, 28 years old & no. 06 seeded star won a WTA trophy and it was her 7th career WTA singles title. World no. 57 Stephens, a 2017 US Open Grand Slam winner and a former world no. 3, defeated unseeded Bouzkova in a 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 battle.
In the doubles championship, no. 3 seeded teams of USA Kaitlyn Christian and Lidziya Marozava of Belarus defeated the unseeded all-Chinese pairing of Wang Xinyu and Zhu Lin. After straight sets winning in QF and SF, the Chinese pair could not win a single set in the final and were crushed by Champions with 7-5, 6-3. For Christian, it was her first WTA doubles title after a loss of 5 double finals in her career. On the other side, Marozava won her 3rd WTA doubles title.
World no. 32 and seeded no. 03 Spanish star Sara Sorribes Tormo was the 2021 champion but could not defend her title this time. This hard-court outdoor WTA 250 tournament has seen just two single champions with Veronika Kudermetova lifting the trophy in 2019 while Sara Sorribes Tormo triumphed last year.
There was no edition in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Australian pair, Ellen Perez and Astra Sharma won the 2021 doubles title. But in 2022 Australian pair did not participate in Abierto Zapopan Guadalajara.
Abierto Akron Zapopan 2022 Prize Money
In 2022, the total WTA 250 prize money is $239,477. The winner received $31,000 with 280 ranking points and the finalist put $18,037 with 180 ranking points in her account. On the other side, the doubles champions got a cheque of $10,800 and the runner-up received $6,300.
